Agriculture developed based on coastal aquifers is normally conditioned by their recharge; the aquifer of La Yarada presents contamination problems from processes of marine intrusion. In its beginnings, irrigation in La Yarada incorporated crops of high water demand due to the high content of salts in their soils. Presently, the most representative crop is the olive tree, whose product is export material to markets, primarily in Chile and Brazil. This situation has generated competition over the excessive extraction of underground water, generating problems of imbalance. It is also important to have a clear view of the State, differentiating between liberal and neoliberal governments, and nationalists with leftist tendencies, as have been present in Peru, regarding development, since there are trends of development incentives of an industrial agriculture and others that privilege a policy of living borders of geopolitical interest, which leave aside guidelines of competitiveness and efficiency, among other aspects.
